Kentucky couple launches Roadtripzee, an online travel site to guide your next adventure

A Kentucky couple has a new way to take the guess work out of your next road trip. Roadtripzee is a one-stop online travel site filled with journals and guides from actual trips taken by regular people.

Created by Rachelle and Tony Wright of Hart County, Kentucky, the platform provides first-hand travel information, including photos, videos and experiences about vacation destinations throughout North America.

“At the heart of Roadtripzee, we are trying to inspire travel,” said Rachelle Wright, co-founder of Roadtripzee.” We feel passionate about the road trip because it is a meandering thing that happens. It’s different than writing only about a destination because the route you take on your road trip provides places you may want to stop and enjoy on your way to somewhere else.”

Roadtripzee reaches more than two million users monthly through a web platform, newsletter and Kentucky Road Trips Facebook Group, which boasts 147,000 members. Content for the brand is created by a team of writers who have curated travel content based on their Indvidual experiences from the road.

The team consists of more than a dozen members with various backgrounds and areas of interests including a Kentucky couple who anchor the news in Lexington, a Louisville marketing specialist, a fishing expert, a photographer and camping enthusiast, a foodie, a prep cook and Rachelle Wright’s husband, Tony, who has traveled to every Kentucky state park, 45 states and four of the seven continents.

“Roadtripzee is not an open sharing site, it written by a curated team of people who go out and have firsthand experiences in various places all over North America,” Rachelle Wright told the Courier Journal. “Our contributors are people we know and who we trust. They don’t write anything negative, which means if they visit a place that is not somewhere that everyone would be welcome, you won’t see it written about on our site.”

Currently, there are more than 80 journals on the site covering everything from luxury to budget-friendly accommodations and ideas for family or solo travel. The destinations range from Santa Cruz, California to Mackinac Island, Michigan, with additional locations and travel information added on a regular basis.

“Our team is made up of people who love to travel, love to write, and love to tell a story,” said Wright. “Their journals, photos and videos resonate with our community because they are real tales of the road that can be used as inspiration for travel or just to connect people to what’s out there.”

From restaurants to hotels, attractions to shopping, Roadtripzee offers inspiration for what to see and do, not only when you arrive at a particular destination, but also as you travel to that destination.

“When you get good at road tripping it’s not just about getting to a destination, it’s about spending long hours with your traveling companion and bonding,” she said. “We believe a road trip will never happen the same way twice. When you slow down and take in the experience, it will happen in a unique way. That’s what makes this type of travel exciting.”
